Funny story about purchasing student work.

At our Board of Education building, we have a yearly art show. Several years ago, there was a piece of student work hanging in one of the offices. When it came time to take down the work the creator this particular piece did not care to have it back. Well..the person who had the pleasure of having this artwork in her office for 4 months asked if she could purchase the work as she liked it so much. Once the student's parents found out that someone put a monetary value on it.....they decided that they wanted it back after all.

Go figure!

Another funny thing...is that when we are getting ready for our annual art show. The students want to know if they can sell their work. It is such a funny (odd) thing...finally I asked them what was all the stuff about selling their work, why can't people just look at it and think about it and enjoy you.....well....it turns out they think they can make LOTS of money selling their work...that is how good it is...<smile> Makes me love my job!(also I have students from housing projects and assisted housing so they do think about money from time to time)
