I am starting my student teaching Jan. 21st in Tawas Michigan. I would appreciate it if you could send me the objectives and rubric you mentioned in your post. I will gladly provide you feedback on them.
Sincerely,
Wynne Erickson

Shari:
I've acted as mentor to more than a dozen student teachers, two already this year with another arriving after Spring Break. One thing that I have created to help me guide student teachers is a set of learning objectives and a rubric. Several teachers in the North Texas area are field testing the objectives. I plan to write an article about the objectives this summer. If you'd like to look at the objectives or try them out with your own student teacher, I can send them via attachment (Word document) to your email address. I'd appreciate your input on them if you try them.
The student teachers who have used these objectives say that it has helped them keep on task and to know exactly where they stand grade-wise. The objectives also make your writing of the final evaluation much easier because you know exactly what the student teacher knows and can do or will do.

I'm back on line after a hiatus because of computer trouble.....
I have a student teacher beginning with me the end of January?
Any suggestions?
Wasn't there a thread a while back? How do you access past discussions?
Thanks a lot!
