Re: repousee

Date: Sun Mar 03 2002 - 13:20:45 PST

I just tried to make a repousee sample using the covers of those large
aluminum pans that restaurants use for take-out lasagna. We have a party
store here that sells these cheaply They are quite heavy foil. It looks
somewhat like pewter when done. I was able to get 4- 5x7 pieces from 1 cover
and it took the repousee nicely. If you can pull it off, maybe a restaurant
like Olive Garden would donate some. It works nicely because it is a flat
sheet with only crimping on the 4 corners. I will rubout lightly with steel
wool and then use diluted black acrylic, and steel wool the raised parts. I
liked the book cover idea for it. Thanks.
