I have one I do with my 2nd grade, but "anyone" can do it.... Each child, in
groups of 6 at a time, get into those huge brown plastic garbage bags and
cooperatively pour, splatter, and drip paint onto a huge piece of cardboard
or paper. Just like "Jack the Dripper" they don't touch the "canvas". We
talk about the act or the movement of doing the painting as the important
part of the process and they can intellectualize this abstract painting
concept in this way. Needless to say, they remember this and have a great
time. Remember that the bag covers them up to their neck- I tear holes for
their hands- so it just leaves the "mess" on the cardboard! Only kidding,
all you JP lovers! Susan on Long Island
