I can't even begin to explain how being a part of this group has enriched my
experience as an art teacher- it takes the isolation out of being in our
rooms working like dogs so there is not even time to take a sit in the lounge
like "regular" teachers seem to have so much time to do - isn't that
interesting ? (I digress...)
WE share lesson plans, and we offer support in sticky situations, etc- it
also puts you in touch with the "common best practice" of other art educators
all over the Us and the world.....
and speaking for myself, it has been a very validating experience and helped
me to stick to my guns on things, and know that my ideas and techniques ARE
excellent- even if the people I work with are unappreciative and never
compliment what I do, I have been able to reaffirm over and over that what I
do is for the kids- for many of them I am the only chance they will ever have
of seeing real art or getting real culture.
THat is more important than any coworker's comments.
WE are our own cheerleaders here !
I highly recommend it !
