Mirth in Measure

I wrote these sometime around midnight, thought you would find it funny? The
first one is in honor of my niece who just got a $6000 quote on the flowers
for her wedding and is freaking out, the second one, well... I actually don't
care to create rhyming poetry but for some reason these worked OK...

 As I reflect
 upon my quest
 to have a meal
 for every guest
 and flowers droop
 when they once draped
 I paid too much
 Now it's too late
 The cost per minute
 it did add up
 Now I'm inclined
 to pass the cup.
 When all I want
 is to get married
 It should be fun
 not cross or harried
 A wedding puts you
 under a spell
 Before you know
 it's planning hell
 First this, then that
 Forgot the other
 Did you remember
 to ask his mother?
 The music, gifts,
 the band and such
 Let's face it ya'll
 it costs too much.
 I want a marriage
 not just a wedding
 I want this man
 whose love I'm getting
 For some I know
 this isn't true
 Their goal is just
 to say "I do."
 And when it's done
 they turn around
 and find a way
 to put him down.
 Why all they want
 A dress all white
 Their hair in place
 Their makeup tight
 To be a princess
 just one day
 And after all
 he said he'd pay
 Some do get married
 To have a wedding
 The lights, the cameras
 Attention getting.
 How sad for them
 'cause from the heart
 when wedding ends
 our lives will start.
 As I reflect
 It's worth the troubles
 So bring the limo
 And blow the bubbles!

 Okay, I'm rhyming and I can't stoppp!

 Stock keeps droppin' in Tokyo
 The deficit keeps risin'
 Israel reachs no accord
 Albanians are fightin'
 Drought's predicted on one shore
 Floods upon the other
 Studies show more pestilence
 MIR's back, run for cover
 Old diseases new again
 hitting man and cattle
Feds can't cut it- low enough
 Wallstreet hears death's rattle
 Now I'm not being depressing
 So please don't be confused
I just am passing on to you
 what's in the Daily News.
