One year I made the lacquer Russian boxes with the beautiful painting on the
outside -- red on the inside with first graders. I had them paint inside
boxes with red paint and then mod podge it so it would look shiny. Then we
studied Russian fairy tales, architecture etc. and they could choose which
image they would use. They painted the backgrounds and used paint markers
for details. Then I mod podged them again.

They were beautiful.
