Bunki is EXACTLY right!!!!
Keep students actively involved by giving them "instant" success once in a
while, and they'll remain open to other concepts when you present them.
Often our job in elementary school and (especially) middle school is to
keep the students from being turned off in Art by some defeatist attitude.
