Here is an opportunity for students and teachers to become involved with
a participatory public artwork.
I recently interviewed the artist, William Cochran, when his "Community
Bridge" mural was chosen to be included in the new Crystal Production
Take-5 mural prints. He has some wonderful ideas and his trompe l'oeil
painting is remarkable.
Do yourself a favor and check out the artist's website. When you first
open the page and see the image of the bridge, you'll probably think you
are looking at a stone bridge. You are not. It is a concrete bridge
and everything you see is painted. There are many symbolic
representations on the bridge and its supporting wing walls as well.
The bridge is a participatory community project. What a rich teaching
tool.
