Re: Teaching the merits of abstract art

I have taught in one K-5 elementary school for 10 years and can definitely
vouch for the advantages to building a curricullum from day one. There was no
program before I came from a middle school in 1990, to initiate the
elementary program. I had just finished helping rewrite the standards and
curricullum for a larger county, and this county was like a clean plate
waiting to be loaded with delicious creative learning! The students that
started with me have gone on to show the significance that early learning in
the arts can evoke, by displaying a higher level of talent and understanding
as they move from elementary to middle and finally high school.
