I do a great lesson with my kids on Modern art forms including abstract. I go
from the late 1800's with the changes the Impressionists made and go to
Modern times. We talk about how are is responding to what is happening in the
world, wars. depression, innovation. The kids understand the ideas and how
they develop and have a better appreciation for the art. We then create an
abstract piece to print from like a collograph. They turn out beautifully,
everyone feels successful and they have a better appreciation for that type
of art/ Many ask if they can create images in response to things happening
