Re: Female Sculptors?

Date: Tue Mar 06 2001 - 09:32:39 PST

Hi, I'm new to this chat group.
Laurie Carlson, Fall River, MA, fiber artist, sculptor, and fiber-optic
specialist., and now, substitiute teacher in our Public school.

In the late 70's, Judy Chicago had her 'Dinner Party' exhibit in Boston. I
worked as one of the many women who voluteered time to install the work,
guard it, and pack it back up. This is strong material for 8th grade, I
commend you for going there.

You might also consider some of the Fiber Sculpture artists, such as
Magdalena Abkanowicz. Fiber art takes the basket, and many other texile
techniques into a whole new realm.

Research Fiberarts Magazine, at Lark, or try Sculpture magazine too.
