Re: Art Club Survey

>I'd like to know how many of you get compensation for doing an Art Club or
after school art group? How often do most of you meet?

I think I missed the begining of this thread, but I'm going to jump in
I have always had Art Club that meets once a week. Requirements were that a
student had to pass intro to art or show a great interest. this usually kept
out the 9th graders. this year I opted to let them join us. With the
acception of one- It was a really BIG mistake! The group of ninth graders
that have joined us are the most immature kids once that 3:00 bell has rung.
Yikes! It got so bad that I told them it was over. They promised to be more
mature (haha) and I conceded to letting them meet once a month. all I can
say is thank God I only have 2 more meetings with them! Live and learn! I
still meet with the upper classmen (10, 11, 12th gr) once a week and they are
thankful for the separation. Next year it will be called "Portfolio club"
trying to get the truely serious art student involved.
I get no compensation but, I can include supplies in my yearly budget.
I love working with the kids who want to work and my 9th graders in my class
are great. When that bell rings they are transformed into some sort of Alien
(only 8 more days til NYC)
