The Southeast Center for Education in the Arts, located at the University of
Tennessee at Chattanooga, provides innovative professional development for
elementary and secondary school educators. The Director of the Visual Art
Institute develops, writes, teaches, and administers discipline-based art
education programs and multi-arts professional development activities.
STARTING DATE: May 2001
QUALIFICATIONS: Masters degree in visual art education. Experience teaching
in an elementary school setting. Experience with curriculum development,
administration, inservice, multicultural arts, and technology. Familiarity
with discipline-based arts education as articulated through the work of the
Getty Education Institute for the Arts.
GENERAL: The position is an annual 12 month appointment with a salary range
of $40,000 - $45,000. The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga is a
metropolitan university of 8,000 students located in the center of a
metropolitan area of more than 400,000 people.
