If anyone on the Getty Ed Net list has been to Chartres, I have a question
for you.If you were at Chartres during the Easter season (Lent to Easter /
early March - mid April) did you happen to notice the labyrinth that is
located between the fourth and fifth bays? And if you did, were you there
during the time the sun would have been setting? And if you can answer yes
to the first three, did you notice where you were standing when you could
clearly see the West Portal Rose Window and the three lancets underneath it?
I particularly want to know if at any time during the afternoon sun, if the
light penetrates the center of the rose window and illuminates the center of
the labyrinth at the same time? If anyone has any thoughts on this and has
actually been to Chartres I would like to hear about your experience.
