mmm....where to begin

I get up around 5:30 (have to beat my roommate's boy friend to the shower!)
and get ready, check e-mail, watch news, etc. Get to school between 6:30 and
7:30 AM....<g> (this depends on how the news was....if it is Bush news...I
get to school by 6:30..hehehehe!) I make cappucino in my room (I have refrig,
cap. maker and crock pot in room!) On M,W, and F I am in one school. These
days combined I teach 14 classes + and 1/2 hour fine motor group. (our art
class period is 1 hour) We start school at 8:15, I begin my first class at
8:30. The first 15 minutes of the day is considered part of my prep period.
I have two classes in the morning, then an hour of prep/lunch combined, then
three classes back to back. On W and F at this school I also have a 15
minute recess duty. Three Wed. a month I have a meeting 1 and half hour
meeting after school. The other Wed. I clean, hang art, prep, fire, whatever
needs to be done.

On T and Th I travel to my second school. On T I have two classes at one
school and a 20 minute recess duty (that turns into 30-35 minutes) and then
two more classes at my other school. I also have an Art Club that meets for
1 hr. 15 min. I am up to 16 members! (YEAH!) On Thursdays, I have 5
classes, 3 back to back at one school, then 2 back to back at my other
school. When I finish at my part-time school (usually by 4:00) I go back to
my main school. I have a total of 50 minutes of scheduled duties each
week..the actual time usually runs over 1 hour.

As for extras...I mentioned Art Club...this is done as part of a contractual
30 hours per year required on top of the school day. I also teach a before
school program (paid) on Mondays and an after school program on Fridays (also
paid). I also teach a Saturday program that goes with a Family ESL school we
have (this is also paid). I am doing my first art show (not paid!) with over
600 pieces of student work.

I put in an average of 14 and a half hours a day...not counting the time I
spend on weekends running around and planning for the week. OH and how could
I forget the portfolio I have to prepare for the state for certification!!!
And I am desperately trying to finish my thesis so I can get my MA and get a
pay raise! In my district they only give you a pay raise after you finish
the degree or 30 hours after your first MA. Needless to raise is
not comiserate with cost of degree!!!

For the most part...I love my job and know that by next year...things will be
easier. Do I have much a life...well...<g> Right now...this is my life..and
things are going well...of course ask me after next Friday when my Art Show
goes up!! Then we will see!!!j

Hope that helps all of you!
