ALERT! GROUP OFFERING EXHIBITS OF ART AND HISTORY A PROBLEM
NAESP has received reports that a group called "Washington, D.C. on
Tour," which offers exhibits of art and history, has collected fees
from
schools and not appeared. The group sets up assemblies or field trips
with schools, asks for fees prior to the "performance" then cancels
and
cannot be reached. When the group has appeared the "show" has not been
worth the $10 per child cost. Reports say that this has happened in
California, Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Missouri, and possibly
Alabama.
The group also provides letters from Members of Congress that appear
to
be letters of endorsement.
Principals are recommending not doing business with this group or
giving
them any money ahead of time. School leaders should alert their staffs
and be sure to always follow district procedures when contracting with
presenters, collecting funds, etc.
Good friends, school spirit, hair-dos you'd like to forget.
Classmates.com has them all. And with 4.4 million alumni already
registered, there's a good chance you'll find your friends here:
