I just wanted to share with you a wonderful and terrific lesson involving doing a
batik with markers ( waterbased). The lesson was on Kinderart. I used it with
my moderate CD's (middle school). Actually I think it could be used for any
level, but it is great for elementary.
The student draws right on fabric ( we used a thinner canvas) with magic
markers.
The finished colored piece gets dipped entirely into batik wax. Crunch up, brush
on India ink, and iron out the wax. My special ed students did their own ironing
one on one ,of course. We did this in the fall with a leaf theme--discussing
trees, leaves, colors, ect.
