I know what you mean. I had the same reaction to American Gothic when I saw
it at the Art Institute in Chicago. Seeing the work in person is great! On
the other hand, I am a fan of Van Gogh and one of my biggest disappointments
was when we were in Amsterdam and Van Gogh's museum was closed for
renovation. Unfortunately I cannot get to Detroit in the near future. Judy

i've never been the biggest van gogh fan in the world. i always appreciated

his work but never LOVED it. i was in paris in february and went to the
musee d'orsay. some of my favorite artists works were there, monet, gaugain

(whose work i LOVE) etc. i could not believe my eyes when i say the van
    gogh
work. it took my breath away. it was so incredible i was in complete awe!!

i couldn't believe how it moved i was. it was the most wonderful part of the

museum for me. (and there was a lot of art there!!)
my question... how long is the show in detroit? it would be worth the road
    trip for me.

    green with envy,
    teresa
