Jill,
sorry about the delay, long story I dont want to boar you with! My
school is year round multi track. I'm teaching 235 days. ( I think thats
right) over 1100 students.. right now I see them 45 mins twice in a 3
week rotation... it is fine to do clay and paint etc... the classroom
teachers want each special each week and the only way to fit 38 classes
in is to shorten the time... I feel very strong about my program and if
the time is shortened I will not be able to use this quality program! I
am so frustrated right now, Im fairly new to this teaching politics (5
years or so) and am really having a hard time listening to classroom
teachers telling me how to run my program and that clay can be done in a
half hour... you know as well as I that intro, set up, pass out, clean
up would take up most of the time!! it isnt worth only 5 - 10 mins of
actually hands on!! Isnt there any guide lines or are art teachers every
where abused as glorified baby sitters!!??
thanks for listening,
sherry
