We all have our ways of doing things differently which is what makes the
world go 'round, thank goodness. A few of you have asked how to shape the
wire and I can tell you only what we did. We straightened out the wire with
wirecutters until it was as perfectly straight as we could make it. We cut
off the spiraled ends and hook section. Actually...we just bent them back
and forth until they "broke". Then we sat on the floor and wrapped our wires
around the table legs...back and forth...until we got some nice smooth
curves. Quite frankly it's hard to tell what the sculpture will look like
until the nylon is pulled over. It's always a nice surprise.
The block of wood was pre-drilled by me with 2 holes. Both of the ends of
the wire went into these holes and glue-gunned in place. The hose went over
the entire sculpture and pulled extremely tight. The seam of the nylon ran
along one of the wires so you couldn't see it. We glue-gunned the bottom
tightly underneath. Next we started painting in tempera. Took 2 coats of
base color. Any more questions, give a holl'r. Toodles.......
