I'm not sure if this'll help you, since I don't have visuals or a site to
refer you to. However, I was researching contemporary Australian Aboriginal
painting for a lesson I'm doing with my 5th graders. My students and I were
interested in where they got the idea for all those cool dots-where they
came from - and I found out by reading a blurb on a reproduction that they
were derived from Aboriginal body painting imagery! I don't have any further
details, but I'm looking. Perhaps our Australian art teachers could fill us
all in on specifically who's bodies were (are?) painted, what it looked
like, how they did it, and why. I know my 5th graders and I would sure like
to hear more.
