This is so unfortunate.
Typical of the uneducated educators. They somehow think that art is a gift
and not hard work.
Reminds me when my straight A----AP in all her core subjects...daughter...top
of her class student didn't get into Honor Society her Jr. year. All of her
"equal counterparts" made it in...because of Band , Sports or Choir....but
somehow accolades in art didn't count. She finally made it in her Sr. year.
But I was ticked. I didn't protest....but I should have.
One thing to push is by going to a block schedule...Students in our district
take 8 courses a year.(4 complete courses each semester) ..This gives them
plenty of opportunties to have a complete, real education. There are some
drawbacks...but it works pretty well.
