    Gates Foundation to Award $350 Million in K-12 Grants

    The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation announced four new competitive
    grants
    programs for improving K-12 education. The foundation, among the
    wealthiest
    in the country with assets of $21.8 billion, will award $350 million
    over
    the
    next three years for the development of models that promote student
    achievement.

    “All 50 states are adopting standards for children’s education,” said
    Jenna
    Buffaloe, the foundation’s spokeswoman. “This investment is intended
    to help
    all children actually achieve those standards.”
