This is a great thread as I am also interested in Musicians/Artists. Keep them coming.
Romare Bearden was a professional musician and songwriter. One of his compositions was performed by Duke Ellington and his band. I've never been able to find out what instrument he played.
Leonardo da Vinci played the Lute (a pear-shaped stringed instrument).
