Dear Clark,
I just asked that very same question to my former college pottery professor. He recommended a skutt kiln because they will last longer. The model he recently bought was a KM-1227 and comes with the Kilnmaster controller. It was about $2000.
He also mentioned hearing good things about Cone Art kilns.
