Here in Fairfield, California, we celebrate March as Art Education month and have a partnership with the city cultural arts agency and feature "Celebration of the Arts" exhibit of K-6 students and for the middle school and high schools we have a month long gallery exhibit and awards program, since 1987.

Perhaps it's not such a good idea to combine the art show with a talent show or
music show. I have the art show by itself and that way whoever comes is there
to see art and only art. I do have a dozen student demonstrators in the art
room. They do different projects every year. This year they will be painting
flowers in an Impressionist style. We'll have big bouquets of flowers set up
for them to paint. They are hand picked by me: 5th graders, very talented and
very focused. The room is always packed with watchers and admirers. The
children paint with acylics on canvas boards.
All the halls are covered with art. The children all know where their work is
hung because they've been taken on a tour of the show by their classroom
teachers expressly for this purpose. I know lots of people come only to see
their child's work but at least I know they are coming to see art.
