I don't know what the problem, or perceived problem, is. I e-mailed in to
subscribe, using the address provided by Lisa,...and I was subscribed. All
they have is my e-mail address, nothing else.

I don't want to lose touch with the great people on this list, but the
"onelist" option sounds a bit intrusive to me.

During registration, eGroups asks for your email address, date of birth,
    gender and country of residence. . . <snip > . . . In addition, when
    the service is used, we
    retain your IP address for some period of time. . . . <snip> . . . All
other information gathered is optional and is used to publish your
member profile for other members of your community to know more about
you, and to better target the advertising to
    your interests

EEEKK! If _we_ can pull up members e-mail addresses and
    "whatever," so can
spammers! Can OneList assure us that spammers don't have access
    to the list?
I changed servers recently and have been blessedly free of spam.
