I would like to hear from any of you that are ceramic/pottery specialists.
I need some help with our first firing of the year of a kiln I inherited
which is approx. 25 years old. All elements have been replaced and I am
not sure of temps etc for firing general stoneware or red clay. This is
not my area of expertise, I am a painter by specialty. Any general hints,
step-by steps etc.? I have also heard that you can test a piece of pottery
for moisture content by placing it on a glass window-if it leaves a
moisture content on the window, or fog...it isn't ready to be fired>>>
anyone hear of this? Any help would be appreciated. Also any good
resources for basic throwing and pottery-kiln firing?
    Help.................hubbardk.us........thank you!
