I had a JH teacher that invited our parents to take us to the Alley Theater
in Houston for a performance of Agatha Christie's "Ten Little Indians". She
got the tickets donated somehow even though our parents could afford them.
Parents who hadn't shown up for school events from the day they registered
their kids for Kindergarten came. I say go for it, even if you only get one
or two parents the first time you try. Think of the impact positive parent
involvement could have on your kids and program. You might even have one or
two parents that would already feel the importance of such a visit and bring
several kids from your class. BTW Mrs. Lindsey and Mrs. Woods, who
arranged the trip to the Alley, were two of the best teachers I ever had. I
credit them with helping me transition from kids books series into more
sophisticated literature especially "hard science" science fiction and
British mysteries.

I just went to see the Modern Starts exhibit at MOMA....Seeing van Goghs,
Matisses, Rousseaus, Monets etc. all together in the same place at the same
time.....was just breathtaking....we teach it every day....a a a a n n n d d
d to see them in person.....if you live anywhere new NYC...try to get there.
What do you think about making a blanket invitation to parents to meet me
with thier kids at the museum one Sat.? Do you think that would be unfair to
students who could not come? But my school does not allow trips and it
would
atleast give the students whose parents would take them the opportunity to
experience art first hand????What do you think????? robin.
