Here is a variation of Gina's rule:
"Ask 3 before me"
1. Check your notes and handouts.
2. Look at examples and art visual resources.
3. Ask someone at you table who looks like they know what they are doing.
Often the students choose to ask the wrong person--when they ask a
friend...it is usually the one they were talking to when they were not
paying attention. hence the friend also doesn't have a clue :-)
My students already know I a half-kook, so I am going to make a sign card to
wear next week--we are starting a new trimester--I think this would be a fun
way to let the "Ask 3" sink in. I, like, many have trouble enforcing the
rule number one "Follow directions the first time they are given" ..I am
just too nice--and immediately give them the answer. I am hoping the Ask
three will help--I used to have a bulletin board up, but never put it up
this year---I used to just point, smile and they would get the idea (they
would say "oh, yeh"). I just couldn't keep track of all of those
warnings.....
P.S. for those who know I don't like to use smiley faces notice above! Now
you are supposed to LOL (Which before I asked my son last year meant Lots of
Love as far as I was concerned. Now LOL@me Isn't e-mail grand! ~giggle~ and
that one is for Deb.
