Dennis - thanks for sharing. Looking back to my first year where I am now I
rmember the kids copying one another as though there was only one answer. It
took three years to get the kids to graduate that had "the other teacher"
and to convince
the kids that everyones work could look different in someway even when the
subject was the same. It is a pure joy to look around the room and see each
one being
"their own artist" maybe they grow in self esteem too by expressing their own
self??? When I was a student teacher one of the teachers I worked with
focused on'
self esteem - she didn't seem to care about producing art work but more about
how
the child felt about himself. She was wonderful and I think I carry some of
her wisdom into my teaching - however I do love to see the product turned out
too.
Thanks Roberta
