..... it's not just one or two chronic offenders, either. one asks, says
they reeeeeeeaaaaaally have to go, does a little dance...then the potty
train takes off! it seems like half the class reaally needs to go.
    thanks,wendy

All of us can pretty much tell who reeeeeeeeally has to go and who's abusing
the privilege. When I think it's the latter, I prop up my 3-min. salt timer
(like the old fashioned hour glass) and say okay...but they have to be back
before the 3 mins. run out or I dock their grade 3pts. for cutting class
(that's their FINAL grade, mind you). This allows them zip time other than
wiz and return. Has taken care of our potty problems.

Actually...the ONLY time I've ever had any potty problems with kids was when
I put in a lovely, small water fountain in my classroom with tinkling water
to listen to while we worked. We had potty problems galore...including my
own...listening to all that "tinkling". ALL of had to "tinkle". Switched
back to more music. Medical problems cleared up. Toodles.......
