    Dear Leah,
    I have to admit that it is far easier in high school than middle school, but
    in my 23 years of middle school I found this system to work. I give students
    one free pass a card marking, they can use it for lavatory, counselor or
    locker. This is recorderd in my gradebook. I tell them everyone is entitled
    to an emergency. For the next pass students agree to make up time after
    school. It worked pretty well for me.
