    OPEN POSITIONS FOR THE COLLEGE OF THE ARTS

    POSITION #1 (Visual Art) JOINT APPOINTMENT: Assistant Professor in Art
    (College of the Arts) and Liberal Studies (College of Education)

    EFFECTIVE DATE: August 23, 2000

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: MFA; EdD; PhD; or MA with extraordinary professional
    record. Potential for, or demonstrated effectiveness in teaching art
    education at the university level. Demonstrated ability or potential to teach
    integrated interdisciplinary arts courses (Dance, Music, Theatre, Visual
    Arts). Two years of successful teaching at the
    elementary level or equivalent. Ability to communicate effectively with an
    ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.

    DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Five or more years of successful public
    school teaching experience at the elementary level or equivalent; successful
    college level teaching. Demonstrated knowledge of the California Frame-work
    for the Visual and Performing Arts and National Arts Standards. Experience
    with standards-based educational practice and
    cross-cultural arts education. Understanding of child development. Evidence
    of potential for research/ creative accomplishment leading to conference
    participation and publication.

    DUTIES: Teach introductory and upper division courses in Liberal Studies and
    Art Education. Teaching responsibilities will be determined by departmental
    needs and the applicant's interests and areas of expertise. Advise students
    in the Liberal Studies and/or Art Education programs and participate in
    curriculum and program development. Maintain visibility in the field of art
    or art education and/or interdisciplinary arts. Collaborate with Teacher
    Preparation and local school districts.

    SALARY RANGE: $40,448-$51,036, commensurate with experience.

    REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION: Letter of application which addresses the minimum and
    desired/preferred qualifications, resume, evidence of successful teaching
    experience, unofficial transcripts and a list of current references. (An
    official CSULB application SC-1 form and three current letters of
    recommendation will be required of semi-finalists; official transcripts from
    institution awarding the highest degree will be required of finalists).

    POSITION #2 (DANCE) JOINT APPOINTMENT: Assistant Professor in Dance (College
    of the Arts) and Liberal Studies (College of Education)

    EFFECTIVE DATE: August 23, 2000

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: MFA or MA with commensurate professional experience in
    K-12 dance education. Ability to teach integrated, interdisciplinary arts
    courses (Dance, Music, Theatre, Visual Arts). Three years teaching
    experience. Demonstrated record of creative professional activity. Ability to
    communicate effectively with an ethnically and cultural diverse campus
    community.

    DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Five or more years of successful teaching
    experience. Ability to teach dance studio courses. Demonstrated knowledge of
    the California Framework in the Visual and Performing Arts. Demonstrated
    knowledge of dance theory and motor development K-6. Potential for continued
    record of creative accomplishment and/or research leading to conference
    participation or publication.

    DUTIES: Teach introductory and upper division courses in Liberal Studies and
    Dance (studio and/or education). Teaching responsibilities will be determined
    by departmental needs and the applicants interests and areas of expertise
    Advise students in the Liberal Studies or Dance programs and participate in
    curriculum and program development.
    Maintain visibility in the field of dance, dance education and/or
    interdisciplinary arts. Collaborate with Teacher Preparation and local school
    districts.

    SALARY RANGE: $40,488-%51,036, commensurate with experience.

    POSITION #3 (Music) JOINT APPOINTMENT: Assistant Professor in Music (College
    of the Arts) and Liberal Studies (College of Education)

    EFFECTIVE DATE: August 23, 2000

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: ABD in Music or Master’s degree in Music with
    commensurate professional experience. Potential for, or demonstrated
    effectiveness, in teaching music education at the university level.
    Demonstrated ability or potential to teach integrated, interdisciplinary arts
    courses (Dance, Music, Theatre, Visual Arts). Knowledge of music methodologies
    such as Orff, Dalcroze, Kodaly and Gordon. Three years successful K-6 public
    school teaching experience. Ability to communicate effectively with an
    ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.

    DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Appropriate teaching credential.
    Demonstrated knowledge of the California Framework in the Visual and
    Performing Arts. Experience with standards based educational practice. Five or
    more years of successful public school teaching experience at the elementary
    level. Knowledge of computer applications to Music Education. Successful
    university teaching experience. Certification in one music methodology such as
    Orff, Dalcroze, Kodaly or Gordon. Evidence of potential for research/creative
    activities leading to publication.

    elementary Music Education. Teaching responsibilities will be determined by
    departmental needs and the applicant’s interests and areas of expertise

    teachers, College of Education and Music faculty. Maintain visibility in the
    field of music education and/or interdisciplinary arts. Collaborate with
