I remember going to the museum in St. Louis when I was little and being
amazed that people could make the paintings we saw. I had the feeling it
was really something special and I said to myself that I could do that. I
felt a new awe of and respect for humanity. I was 6. After that I always
said I was going to be an artist. A couple of years later my mom decided to
frame several pictures I'd made. I'd never been so proud in my life. I was
very shy and it was hard when she would show them to people.
