Do art teachers use the textbooks

I have been teaching art for only four years, and found the textbooks
lacking in so many ways that I had to find other resources in order to
teach art in an interesting and productive way.
I am writing a paper for school and would like to know how other teachers
feel about their art textbooks. I would also appreciate knowing how long
you have been teaching in order to determine if the number of years of
experience makes a difference.
I hope most of you are enjoying your time off - this paper is putting a
damper on mine!!
