I just thought of another thing I do with Kinders early on. The primary
color song. It goes to the tune of "3 Blind Mice" and goes like this:

Red, yellow, blue.
Red, Yellow, blue.
I see you.
Red Yellow, Blue.
You are the primary colors.
You mix to make all the others.
Red, yellow, blue.
Red, yellow, blue.

I teach this after reading Mouse Paint by Ellen Stohl Walsh. This year I am
going to try the color mixing that someone here suggested, with the frosting
in a baggie. Then we will "paint" mouse-cookies. For fun, I may read If
You Give a Mouse a Cookie as a follow-up.

Oh, and Mary Ann is right, they say the most off-topic things. After sitting
so patiently that you are sure they are so involved with what you are
saying. Wait til it happens when the principal is in your room! My favorite
is "Today is my ____ (uncle's, dad's, etc) birthday." I usually just say,
"Well, tell them happy birthday for me." which is almost always followed by
many other exclaimations of birthdays, most not even close to today! Oh well!
