Hi Melissa,

I totally agree with you about the joys of teaching young children. I also like
to use children's books to introduce an activity. It's a great way to integrate
emergent literacy with the arts. When I'm lucky enough to have 50 to 60 minutes
for a class, I also use the extra time at the end to encourage children to take
turns reflecting on the the process as well as their products. Another idea I
use is to let the children help with the clean-up process and putting materials
away. Children love this, especially wiping off painty tables using damp
sponges.

I also love Creative Art for the Developing Child by Clare Cherry, as well as
The Arts in Children's Lives by Mary Renck Jalongo.
