I've always been a bit suspicious about the claim of artists actually using
the Golden Ratio in some unconscious way - the empirical measures ahve so
much error in them that lots of other ratios would fit as well.

There is now even a learned article making the above point - it's called
"Contra Divinam Proportionem" and is in a book enitled "Nexus 2: Maths and
Art" available from qedbooks
