Sounds great Marsha. Would you send me a picture so I am clearer on the
product. I think I get it, but we all process information differently.

At the beginning of the year I like to do name things to build classroom
comfort level. We did a name plate that folded so names were vertical sitting
on the
desks last year. They were to make the letters by using objects that
represented them, ie. Mia's M was all phone receivers, her I a music note and
her A a tent. She likes to talk on the phone, listen to music and go camping.
We then put a word that ether started with the same letter or rhymed with
their name on the other side of the folded name plate. Then we did the name
game. In a circle the first person says their name, something about the letter
symbols they used and turn the name around to show the rhyming word. Everyone
repeats the rhyming word and the students name. That person then only leaves
the rhyming word showing on the plate in front of them. The next person says
the first persons name and then their own name,symbols and rhyming word. All
the way around the circle. The people at the end are really challenged.
Believe me, they not only remember each others names the rest of the year, but
all through high school in the halls. I hear, "Rad, Rachel or Bike,Mike".
