Some of my absolute favorite printmaking lessons involves working with the
textures of nature. It seems that this would be conducive to your summer camp
environment.
I have had students make two different types of printing plates before. One is
on a flat cardboard. I try to get the students to think about and notice
varying textures, shapes and composition before they start gluing. The other
type of printing plate is really fun, and allows them to explore pattern when
printing. Discussing pattern can lead to some interesting conversations about
patterns in nature as well. In this try gluing their natural found objects
onto a roll. A papertowel or toilet paper roll will suffice.

Good Luck,
Dawn
