Hello everyone on Listserv. My name is Debra and I am delighted to have
discovered such a wonderful and already, HELPFUL, source for art teachers to
gather and discuss being both artists and teachers. I finished my student
teaching 3 weeks ago and have been hired to teach art full time at the first
school in which I student taught. This fall I will be teaching middle school,
grades 6-8, Ceramics/Sculpture and Beginning Art. I feel very fortunate to
have secured this position, as art teaching jobs are difficult to find in my
area (Idaho). So, as a brand new teacher...I will appreciate any and all
advice, lesson plans, projects, etc.. that any of you would like to share with
me. Of particular need at this point are ideas suited for the first day/week
of school. Also, ANY tips, ideas, projects, for ceramics and sculpture will be
HUGELY appreciated. I do know I have a new electric kiln and I believe I have
3, maybe 5 electric wheels. (Not sure).
I look forward to hearing from you.
