CALL FOR RECOMMENDATIONS: SCHOOL SYSTEMS EFFECTIVE AT ARTS EDUCATION
The President's Committee on the Arts and Humanities and the Goals 2000
Arts Education Partnership invite your recommendations of school districts
offering high quality arts education for all students. These
recommendations will assist us in focusing research on how school systems
achieve strong arts education and will result in a national report and an
on-line piece highlighting best-practices in arts education.
FOCUS ON SYSTEMS: Individual schools will not be considered for this
report. Instead, please recommend districts or groups of schools working as
part of a district-wide strategy to reach all students (such as clusters,
public/non-public systems, and many schools collaborating with
institutions).
Consider the following in your recommendations:
VARIETY: We would like to hear about a variety of school systems, in
different geographic, economic, and demographic situations.
STUDENT PERFORMANCE BROAD RANGE OF ARTS PROGRAMS DEPTH OF QUALITY STAFFING
ACCESS: do they reach all students in addition to students specializing?
INNOVATION PARTNERSHIPS COMMUNITY SUPPORT RESOURCES LEADERSHIP/ GUIDELINES:
vision, plans, strategies; incl. standards comparable to the National
Standards for Arts Education
We greatly appreciate your help. Please fax, mail, e-mail, or phone in your
suggestions by July 15th or as soon as possible to:
