Hi Amy:

Nice topic: Culture. I don't separate art from culture.
What about John Berger's Ways of Seeing? (2.5-5 hours is very short!) I'm
trying, too, to write a semester curriculum on art and culture for high
school kids.
I just went to the Kohler art library here in Madison, WI and
picked up a book: Art and the Committed Eye by Richard Leppert--subtitled
>The cultural functions of imagery<. But I have just cracked it, so can't
yet comment.

Russell's comments are in my opinion, your best bet.

(I have Barbara Krugers postcard "Knowledge is Power" posted on my office
bulletin board)(:
I will also check out the Cahen/Kocur references: thanks all.
