Sharon,
This summer vacation can be both an inspirational period and also a
frustrating period. I have the problem of being quite burnt out by this time.
Plus working in my third floor un-airconditioned studio smack in the middle
of Baltimore city to be a very frustrating place to work. But your questions
of formula raised an eyebrow. I have written in my journals about my
paintings becoming tlike romance novels, once a certain formaula has received
much approval its hard to break the mold. I have found the idea of throwing
in the monkey wrench to be a great way of breaking my usual habits and
formaula. You never know what your results may end up and you have a better
learning experience from it.
My goal this summer is to capture that feeling I get in fall, when my
painting energy is really going, transplant that feeling to summer to take
advantage of this time....and then get it into my teaching. Get my high
school students to feel this energy.
