Dear Fellow Members
I am returning to Bali this summer and this time taking a group with
me. The experience, organized by Robin Van Doren and Fran Rothman of Open
Doors Travel, was so fabulous that I was making plans to return as the plane
took off from Denpasar. Robin and Fran have spent many years in Bali
getting to know the people and their culture, and I genuinely believe they
offer a personally rewarding experience that one rarely encounters on guided
tours.

Bali, the island of the Gods, has long held a special place in the
imagination of all who have dreamed of paradise and traveling there. This
gem of the Indonesian archipelago is calling you to explore its lush
landscape, meet its fascinating people, and become immersed in a culture in
which art and life are indeed one.

The focus of the group is for the participants to become involved in
studying the Arts and the Sacred practices of Bali. You will have a week of
working with a master artist of your choice; painting, mask making, carving,
study with a shadow puppet master, or learn to play a gamelon instrument,
and be able to start each day learning a sensuous Balinese dance!

Traditional temple attire is made for your before your arrival so that we
can enter the temples and learn about their sacred practices while
participating. Most tour groups merely stand on the outside and watch.

There is so much to share with you, but for now I will get to the business
of the trip.
