Diane, here are a couple reasons I think "might" be behind the lack of
participation for this list:
1) For myself, I originally joined this list early in my teaching
career/beginning stages of the internet as we know it (ok, I'm dating myself
here! *L*) Back in the day, when I had a problem with discipline this was
the place to go. Well, I've grown as a teacher & don't have much problem
with discipline anymore. I also used this list for asking technical
questions such as why was my clay cracking & my red glazes not firing
properly. Now, with a quick Google search I can generally find that answer
quickly.
2) Several of the teachers I originally bonded with are now retired & now I
hang with them on Facebook
3) This one may come back to bite me in the rear, but too often during a
discussion "the voice of concern" must pop in and remind everyone that "x"
is dangerous & not to do it. I am definitely NOT pointing any fingers here
because to tell you the truth, I can't even name who does it, but when
someone pops into the conversation with their health concerns (often, in my
opinion, are over-rated & seemingly assume that I do not take necessary
precautions). I bring this up because often, it is a conversation killer.
4) When you do post a comment, too often you find out that not only has
Flora Ito still not returned to her office, but now she has invited others
to join her in her perpetual vacation.
5) Many of those other lists are directly related to what I am actually
teaching now. The TAB list takes care of my elementary needs, and there just
aren't too many HS teachers on this list who teach distance classes via a
Polycom. I also am my district's Technology Integration Specialist, so I
have to split my time between my nerd list & my artsy one. :)

I know some people get upset by the amount of spam they get, but I have the
same email account I had in 1996. The spam comes in spurts - I might get
several for a few days, then it slows to one or two a day. The yahoo account
that I use for all those sites that insist on having an email, well THAT one
gets over-run, but I don't use it for anything else. :) Thanks for
mentioning the Google Art Teacher list - I'll have to check it out & see
what that one's like.

>> Why do you think the list receives so few posts. I subscribe to the TAB
list and the Google Art Teacher list. These lists are pretty active.
