Diane, I have students generate ideas and put those in their sketchbooks.
We brainstorm and make lists, then move to thumbnails, then draw a couple of
ideas in the sketchbook . for younger kids, we discuss to generate ideas-
focusing on relevancy to their lives, in most cases.
