I wanted to tip you off to a wonderful exhibit I saw here last weekend.
http://www.centrocultural-quito.com/ccmq.php?c=1337 The British-Pakistani
artist, Farhana Khan Matthies, created enormous sheets of faux postage stamps
commemorating the social "legacy" of the 20th century--artist's Web site
http://www.farhana-art.com/frame.htm (click on "20th century legacy"). Each
stamp was drawn, printed, then handcolored and handlettered. The themes are
very powerful, and I loved their presentation as stamps. On some sheets, the
stamps are identical; on others, the captions are different. Note the
lettering around the borders of the sheets.
We are so fortunate to get interesting exhibits here.
